Building Use Policy

In accordance with its mission, the members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA may use the church facilities which include the fellowship hall, restrooms, and kitchen, for meetings and events which do not interfere with the public confession of the congregation as defined by the constitution of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Buildings, equipment, furnishings, and supplies are the property of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA, and, therefore, shall not be used by any individual member or a group of which they are a member without prior approval. Approval and arrangements to use the buildings, facilities, and any equipment shall be approved in writing by the pastor, senior elder, and senior trustee.

In using the facility, the approved user group must abide by the following rules:

1.

Only members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA, and those groups to whom they belong, may use the facilities.

2.

All individuals and/or groups using the facilities shall conduct themselves with proper decorum in the church building, parking lot, and church grounds. The member overseeing the event shall exercise responsibility, care, and judgment, in order to prevent defacement, damage, or harm to the facility and equipment or attendees. The persons and/or groups shall be responsible for paying costs incurred by the congregation in cleaning, repairing, or replacing any part of the building, its furnishings, or equipment which has been subjected to more than normal wear and tear by the persons or group involved.

The member responsible for using the facilities will adhere to the procedures outlined in the Trinity Lutheran Church Rules And Regulations For Use Of The Fellowship Hall document.

4.

Congregational activities shall have preference over all other users/groups in the scheduling of requested meeting space.

5.

Groups containing minors must have an adult supervisor (at least 21 years old) present at all times.

6.

Smoking is prohibited inside all buildings. Consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited within buildings and all Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA property.

7.

Buildings or property may not be used for fund-raising activities outside of LCMS mission and ministry. 

8.

Building telephones are for the use of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA business or emergencies only and should not be used for personal calls. No personal long-distance calls may be made from any building phone. 

9.

Building modifications, or the use of equipment that damage the buildings or property of Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton, IA are prohibited.

10.

Users/groups must clean up the buildings after each use and return them to the order of arrangement they were in before the scheduled use. The member with whom the event is associated shall be responsible for cleaning and proper care of the facility. 

11.

Access to the building outside of normal office hours is limited to the pre-approved date andtime arranged with the pastor, senior elder, and senior trustee. A building key may be issued to the supervisor/leader only if necessary, and shall not be given to any other individuals, and shall be promptly returned to the pastor, senior elder, or senior trustee when the activity is finished.

12.

Reservation of the facilities must take place no less than one week prior to the event. Application must be submitted no less than two weeks prior to the event. 

13.

Church staff, such as the pastor, janitor, secretary, or musicians, shall not be expected to provide assistance before, during, or after the event that goes beyond the scope of granting approval. 

14.

Use of any musical instruments of the church shall need to be approved prior to the event.

15.

A gift for the church shall not be required, but will be gratefully received if given.

16.

Any teaching in regards to the Scriptures, the Lutheran Confessions, and/or spiritual advice shall only be given by the pastor or by those who are approved by the pastor to teach publicly.

Failure to comply with these rules and regulations will result in immediate termination of the user/group’s access to Trinity’s buildings and property.
